I have used this game with children and teens in my private practice and at home. I have used many other storytelling techniques with great difficulty. This is like no other! It is user-friendly and I have seen the most reticent children pick-up on my enthusiasm and for the first time open up. It is a wonderful tool that builds rapport and insight. It is a way to engage children and teens playfully; they feel safe while they are developing conflict resolution and important problem solving skills.
It is a must for anyone whether professional or parent to get past the, "What did you do today? ...Nothing" stage and begin to have open meaningful dialogue.
The Storystarters are creative, fun, funny, thought-provoking, easy-to-read, easy-to-hold, easy-to-continue, beautiful to look at... And the Think About lists alone are highly valuable comparisons for any story... any writer... any English teacher... any Hebrew/Religious School teacher or someone wanting to start a conversation about ethics and values.. any person in helping professions... not to mention PARENTS! This deserves a wide audience!

Thanks so much for the fabulous training session last night. It is obvious that the training method you have developed has great potential for reaching teens and adults alike. The feedback thus far has been very good, with the teens able to connect the workshop to Unity, which was the whole point of the session! On behalf of Unity in the Community thank you for sharing Pass-Around Storytelling: The Shared Storytelling Game and the valuable life skills it promotes with teen leaders representing The Suffolk Y JCC, The Huntington YMCA, The Great south Bay YMCA and the Islamic Center of Long Island. We look forward to working with you again in the future.
