The Health Matters curriculum has three components: a leaders guide, a video and a workbook. The program goal is to help teens become more willing and able to take care of themselves and to choose a healthy lifestyle.

The curriculum, consisting of two 90 minute classes of instruction, includes class discussions and fun exercises on understanding improving personal health habits.

Driving the instruction is an unforgettable book, The Teenage Human Body Operator's Manual, with over 500 cartoon illustrations to convey down-to-earth quality information to teens about their personal health. Following a car manual theme, chapter titles include: Parts and Features, Customized Bodies, Sex Brakes, and Passenger Safety. The book includes a self-administered 5,500-day habit tune-up and a strategy for changing habits emceed by an Elvis impersonator.
