As early as middle school, students often face sexual pressures and harassment that they don't know how to handle. This program, with a cast of middle and high school students, uses numerous dramatic situations and individual comments to point out many of the dangers, pressures, and harassing situations they face.
In school, name-calling, unwanted touching, and jokes may amuse some, but for the targets these unwelcome behaviors are painful. Sometimes, telling the aggressor to stop may be enough, but if not, students need to tell an adult. At parties, dances, or on dates, limits must be set and adhered to, even though it may be difficult. Teens may inadvertently start Internet or phone conversations that sound like fun but can lead to dangerous situations. A psychiatrist, parenting experts, parents, and a school counselor are among the adults who stress the seriousness of these situations, offer advice, and urge teens to avoid compromising situations or get adult help when they feel confused or overwhelmed. This program is a good way to introduce or continue discussions about dealing with sexual pressures.
